Windows Subsystem for Android now allows local file access and file sharing
Windows has announced a new update to the Windows Subsystem for Android that allows users to share their Windows user folders with the Subsystem. This update will make it easier for users to upload photos to social media apps or edit videos in creative apps.
The folder sharing feature is enabled by default for preview users and can be toggled on and off in Windows Subsystem for Android settings. When folder sharing is enabled, the user's Windows profile folder is shared as "/sdcard/Windows" in the Subsystem.
It is important to note that only files in the user's Windows profile folder are available to the Subsystem. Windows system folders, Program Files, other users' folders, external drives, and more are not supported. Additionally, there are other limitations to the feature.
However, users can also share individual files with specific Android apps, even if folder sharing is disabled.
This new update is expected to streamline the process for users who frequently use both Windows and Android devices. It will allow for a more seamless experience when working with files and folders across both operating systems.
Overall, the Windows Subsystem for Android continues to evolve and improve, providing more and more functionality for users. With this latest update, users can expect a more integrated experience when using both Windows and Android devices.
