WhatsApp deprecates Electron-based desktop apps and prompts users to switch to native apps
WhatsApp has officially deprecated its Electron-based desktop application. Users are now prompted to switch to the new native app in order to continue using WhatsApp on their devices. The native app can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store or the Mac App Store.
The Electron app, which was previously used by WhatsApp, allowed the messaging service to work across different operating systems. However, it was not optimized and often used a significant amount of system resources. In an effort to improve responsiveness and stability, WhatsApp has made the decision to switch to a native application for Windows and Mac.
Despite the benefits, some have expressed dissatisfaction: the native application does not have the business features that were available on the Electron app. As a temporary solution, users can utilize WhatsApp Web if they require access to business tools.
