Spotify announces desktop client redesign with improved Your Library and Now Playing interfaces

Spotify , the popular music streaming service, has announced updates to its desktop client, which will include a redesign of the “Your Library” and “Now Playing” interfaces. The changes are aimed at harmonize the desktop experience with the mobile app, providing users with a consistent and unified encounter across all their devices.

The new design will place “Your Library” on the left side, making it easier for users to quickly access their saved music and podcast collections and switch between playlists. The “Now Playing” view will be on the right side, displaying the current song or podcast being played, along with information on tour dates and merchandise. For select podcasts, listeners will even have the option to follow along with transcripts while they listen.

The Friend Activity feed, which enables users to monitor what their friends are listening to, will remain accessible via the "friends" icon adjacent to their profile picture in the top-right corner of the primary content area.

The expanded view of “Your Library” will be the default setting, but users can collapse the library by clicking the "Your Library" button. The new design also allows for filtering of dedicated music, simplifying the process of finding specific songs or albums.

Both “Your Library” and “Now Playing” sections can be resized to fit the user’s preferences, allowing for a more personalized experience.

These updates to Spotify's desktop client represent the company's ongoing commitment to enhancing user satisfaction and facilitating seamless access and enjoyment of their beloved music and podcasts.
