Mullvad VPN has released Leta, a privacy-focused search engine for paid subscribers
Mullvad, the company behind the popular VPN of the same name, has just launched a new search engine called Mullvad Leta. This comes just a few months after the company introduced its own web browser. Mullvad Leta is a metasearch engine that uses the Google Search API as a proxy, caching each search. These cached results are then shared amongst all users, reducing costs and improving privacy.
Mullvad Leta, which means “look for” or “search for” in Swedish, is accessible only with a paid Mullvad VPN account. This service is user-supported and doesn't rely on ads or data selling. Each account can make 100 direct searches daily, with unlimited cached searches. Non-cached searches prompt a Google query from Mullvad Leta, sharing only the search term and keeping the rest of your data private.
One of the key features of Mullvad Leta is its focus on privacy. The search results are free from third-party tracking links, providing a clean, private browsing experience. Mullvad Leta has also been audited by Assured, a cybersecurity consulting firm, to ensure its security and privacy features.
This new search engine is a welcome addition for users who are looking for a more private and secure search experience. With the increasing concerns over online privacy, Mullvad Leta's focus on privacy and security is sure to attract users who are looking for an alternative to traditional search engines.
