Chrome testing Password Sharing feature in Password Manager

Google Chrome built-in Password Manager has received several updates in the past, including support for biometric authentication and an Android shortcut, as well as the ability to attach notes to credentials. And now, it appears that Chrome is testing a feature that allows users to share their saved passwords with other users in the browser's password management menu. The new Password Manager will also function as a Progressive Web App (PWA), meaning users will be able to 'Create shortcut' option in the three-dot menu on the Password Manager page, and access to it directly from their desktop computers.

Currently, the share button in the password management menu does not have any functionality, indicating that it is still in the early stages of development, and the fact that the recently announced new features that we mentioned before didn't included the sharing or sending passwords feature, suggests that the decision to incorporate it into the stable version of Chrome it is still under consideration, and it is not guaranteed, as similar ideas have been explored in the past but did not come to fruition.

In the meantime, users who want password sharing capabilities can explore alternative password managers like Bitwarden or LastPass, which offers advanced features including password sharing, robust password generation, and support for two-factor authentication. Additionally, it is also worth mentioning that the recently announced Proton Pass, an open-source password manager from Proton, will support this feature in future versions, as stated by the Proton Team on Reddit.
