Twitch raises subscription price for Twitch Turbo in multiple countries

Twitch , the popular live streaming platform, has announced that it will be raising the monthly price of its subscription service, Twitch Turbo, in the US and several other countries. Twitch Turbo offers users the ability to pay to remove most ads, access additional emoticons, and more. The price of the service in the US will increase from $8.99 to $11.99, with prices for other countries listed on Twitch's website.

Current subscribers will have their current rates locked in for an additional three months, after which they will have to opt-in to the new prices. In an email to subscribers, Twitch stated that if they do not renew within the next three months, their Turbo subscription will stop renewing on August 31st, though their benefits may extend into September depending on their renewal date.

The price increase has not been well received by many subscribers, with complaints flooding social media platforms such as Twitter and the r/Twitch subreddit. Some users outside the US are seeing significant price jumps, causing further dissatisfaction.

The price hike follows Twitch's recent announcement of a new CEO and job cuts at parent company Amazon. While no new features were introduced alongside the price increase, Twitch has promised that Turbo will be getting improvements in the future. In the email to subscribers, Twitch stated, "There are more updates on the way for Turbo to make it even better and more relevant to our community, and we can't wait to share them in the coming months."

However, not all subscribers will be affected by the price increase. Some will see a decrease in the price of Turbo, and Twitch has advised that they cancel their subscription and resubscribe to take advantage of the lower price.
