Mozilla expands Mastodon instance to private beta with focus on content moderation

Mozilla, the company behind the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser, has announced that it is expanding its Mastodon instance, Mozilla.social, to a private beta. This comes after the company announced last year that it was dipping its toes into the world of Mastodon, a decentralized social network.

One of the key differences between Mozilla.social and other major social media platforms, according to Mozilla, is its content moderation approach. In a statement, Mozilla said, “We're not building another self-declared 'neutral' platform. We believe that far too often, 'neutrality' is used as an excuse to allow behaviors and content that's designed to harass and harm those from communities that have always faced harassment and violence.”

Mozilla's content moderation plan is rooted in the goals and values expressed in its Mozilla Manifesto, which includes principles such as human dignity, inclusion, security, individual expression, and collaboration.

If you're interested in joining Mozilla.social as the company continues to expand it, you can join the waitlist. While the social network is still in a private beta, Mozilla has said that it plans to open it up to more users in the future.

Mastodon is a decentralized and ad-free social network that allows users to connect with others in a federated way. With an average rating of 4, Mastodon is a popular alternative to traditional social media platforms like Twitter. Some of its top features include decentralized communication and the ability to connect with other users across multiple servers. If you're looking for a more private and community-focused social network, Mastodon might be the perfect fit for you.

well yea Mozilla got rid of neutrality in general and became pro-censorship of opinions of views that they don't like some time ago. Mastodon although "decentralized" is similar in that way
