Twitter privacy issue: Circle tweets are broken and no longer private
Twitter users were shocked to hear that a key privacy feature, Circle, is currently broken, allowing anyone to view private tweets. Circle is a feature that allows users to post tweets to a smaller group of friends.
Unfortunately, it appears that Circle tweets are being shown in the For You timeline to users who follow the poster, but are not in their Circle. In some cases, it is reported that Circle tweets are reaching even further than those who follow them.
This is a major privacy concern for Twitter users, as it means that their private musings are no longer as private as they thought. We all know that we should be careful what we say on the internet, but this issue serves as a reminder to be especially careful on Twitter.
Twitter has yet to comment on the issue, but it is likely that they are working to fix it as soon as possible. In the meantime, Twitter users should be extra vigilant when posting private tweets.
