Snapseed receives long-awaited update from Google, but no new features

After more than three years of silence, the popular photo editing app Snapseed has finally received an update from Google. However, users hoping for new features or improvements to the app may be disappointed.

The update does not bring any new features to Snapseed. Instead, the only significant change is that the app now targets SDK version 33, which corresponds to Android 13. This update is important because starting August 31, all existing apps on the Google Play Store must target SDK 33 or higher to be discoverable by all users.

Despite being one of the most popular photo editing programs among photographers and people who want to make basic edits to their photos, Snapseed has not received any updates since March 26, 2020. This lack of updates has led some users to speculate that Google had abandoned the app.

While the latest update may not be what users were hoping for, it does ensure that Snapseed will continue to be available to Android users who want to use the app. It remains to be seen whether Google will release new features or improvements to the app in the future.
