OpenAI's ChatGPT platform introduces new feature allowing users to disable chat history

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research company, has announced that users of its ChatGPT platform can now turn off their chat history. This new feature allows users to choose which conversations can be used to train OpenAI's models, giving them greater control over their data.

Conversations that are started when chat history is disabled will not be used to train and improve the models, and will not appear in the history sidebar. This means that users can have private conversations without worrying about their data being used to train AI models.

The new controls are rolling out to all users starting today and can be found in ChatGPT’s settings. Users can change their settings at any time, giving them the flexibility to turn their chat history on and off as needed.

When chat history is disabled, OpenAI will retain new conversations for 30 days and review them only when needed to monitor for abuse, before permanently deleting. This ensures that the platform remains a safe space for all users.
