Zulip 8.0 released with new features, design improvements, and new subscription plans

Zulip, the open-source team chat application, has just launched version 8.0, introducing a host of new features and bug fixes. This update comes over half a year following the release of version 7.0.

Version 8.0 brings significant enhancements, including a new inbox view for the web application, the ability to follow topics of interest, and numerous design improvements. The experience of composing messages has also been improved, among other additions.

The 8.0 update also introduces new Business and Community plans for Zulip's self-hosted customers. From now on, new self-hosted customers will not have unlimited free access to Zulip’s Mobile Push Notification Service. Organizations with more than 10 users will need to subscribe to a plan to access this service. Existing users of the service will have unlimited free access until February 15, 2024.

The Zulip team has also been developing the next-generation Zulip mobile app for Android and iOS, utilizing Flutter for a smoother, faster user experience for this Slack competitor.
