Proton Pass Plus subscribers get access to Proton Sentinel for enhanced account security
Proton has revealed that its Proton Pass Plus plan subscribers will now have access to the Proton Sentinel program. The high-security program has already thwarted over 3,000 account takeover attacks since its inception in August.
Proton Pass employs end-to-end encryption as a standard feature for all user data. This ensures that even in the event of a breach on Proton's side, user passwords and other metadata remain securely encrypted. Proton Pass now also offers a defense mechanism against the most common threat to passwords — deception by fraudsters.
Proton Sentinel is designed to prevent an attacker from accessing user data even if they have successfully obtained the user's Proton account username and password. This program utilizes a combination of artificial intelligence monitoring and human expertise to detect, identify, and challenge any suspicious account takeover attempts.
To activate Proton Sentinel, users need to log into their account, navigate to the Security and Privacy setting, and enable Proton Sentinel by clicking the toggle switch.
