1Password launches public beta of Passkey-based account creation for enhanced security
1Password, a widely used password manager, has recently announced the public beta of their new feature — passkey-based individual account creation. This passwordless sign-in method eliminates the need for users to remember a 1Password account password or manage a Secret Key. Instead, users will only require a passkey for access, offering a secure and convenient alternative.
Following a private beta earlier this summer, 1Password has now extended the beta testing to the public. The introduction of Passkeys is a significant step towards a more secure digital environment. As a successor to traditional passwords, Passkeys offer a form of passwordless authentication, enabling users to sign in to their accounts without the need for memorizing or inputting any information.
The feature is currently only open to new users, with existing 1Password customers set to get access later next year.
