You.com launches APIs for real-time internet access for Large Language Models

YOU.com has launched a suite of APIs designed to enhance the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) by providing them with real-time access to the internet. For a $100 monthly fee, these APIs allow LLMs, such as Meta's Meta Llama, to retrieve updated information from the web, potentially refining responses to user queries with current context. Firms like LlamaIndex, Anthropic, and Cohere have adopted these APIs to boost their LLMs' real-time functionalities.

The APIs offered by You.com include Web search, News, and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), each serving a unique purpose. The Web search API accesses an index of extended snippets, the News API offers exclusive news results, and the RAG API merges web search with LLMs for factual responses.

Despite limitations in processing localized queries, the company is actively working on enhancements. Pricing begins at $100 per month for 14,200 API calls, with a 60-day trial including 1,000 free monthly calls, and custom packages for larger businesses are available.
