Google Photos introduces 'Photo Stacks' feature for organizing and personalizing images

Google Photos has launched a new feature called "Photo Stacks" to help users organize similar images and reduce clutter in their photo libraries. The feature groups similar photos together, making it ideal for users who take multiple shots of the same scene. Users can select the best photo from a stack and label it as the "Top Pick" for easy access, and the feature also offers flexible editing options to personalize photo collections.

A key function of Photo Stacks is the "Keep This, Delete Rest" option, which allows users to save space by retaining only the best photo from a group. The stacked photos can be easily identified by a unique icon on the thumbnail.

The feature, unlike the Pixel-exclusive Top Shot, is available to all Google Photos users, who can activate it under Preferences in the settings. Although it is being rolled out gradually, it is expected to be accessible to a wider user base in the near future.
