Google News to terminate hosting of purchased digital magazine content from December 18

Google News announced it will cease hosting purchased digital magazine content from December 18. The company, which stopped selling magazine content in 2020, allows users to access their purchased magazines until the mentioned date. Google began selling magazines in 2012 via Google Play Magazines, which later merged with Google Currents to form Google Play Newsstand. In 2018, Google News replaced Play Newsstand, emphasizing web content while maintaining magazine subscriptions.

Starting December 18 the company will stop hosting purchased magazine content, and users will be notified via email with options to download their magazines as a PDF or request a refund in certain instances. The deadline to download content or apply for a refund aligns with the date of service termination.
