ChatGPT services down by DDoS Attack, Anonymous Sudan hackers claim responsibility
Over the past two days, users of ChatGPT experienced a significant disruption in service. While login to the website remained functional, the AI was unresponsive and frequently returned errors.
OpenAI confirmed that it experienced periodic outages across both the ChatGPT platform and the associated API. The company launched an investigation into the issue, ultimately attributing the incident to a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack.
The hacktivist group Anonymous Sudan claimed responsibility for the attack. In their statement, the group alleged the motive behind their actions was due to a perceived bias in ChatGPT's algorithm, which they claim favors Israel and discriminates against Palestine.
In response to the attack, OpenAI immediately started to work on mitigation efforts and has announced that the incident is resolved and the status of their services has returned to normal.
