X strips headlines from posts, following decline in trafic and ad revenues

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has rolled out a significant design modification to the image previews of links posted on the site. The update eliminates nearly all details from the image included in the post, leaving only the URL preview and removing headlines.

Elon Musk, the current owner of X, confirmed on the platform that this change was initiated by him. Musk stated that the new design would significantly enhance the platform's aesthetics, according to his viewpoint.

The alteration, despite being somewhat disruptive, was not entirely unexpected. There have been indications of such a change being in the pipeline for several months.

Following Musk's acquisition of Twitter and its subsequent rebranding to X, the platform has experienced a significant decline in traffic and a substantial drop in ad revenues. This design change may be a strategic move by Musk to stimulate users to post more, and particularly, longer content on X, instead of just sharing links from other websites.
