Tinder introduces 'Matchmaker' feature, involving friends and family in dating choices
Tinder has introduced a new feature called Matchmaker, which involves users' friends and family in the dating selection process. This feature enables users to select up to 15 of their loved ones, regardless of whether they are Tinder users or not, to suggest potential matches.
The Matchmaker feature includes a unique "friend test" within the app, allowing users to get dating advice from their social circles. It is currently available in 15 countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, and Germany, with plans for a wider global release.
Users can initiate a Matchmaker session from a profile card or within the app settings, creating a shareable link for their friends and family. These "matchmakers" have a 24-hour window to suggest profiles before the session ends. They are not allowed to chat or send messages on behalf of the user. Once the session ends, the Tinder user can review the profiles suggested by their loved ones. Profiles approved by matchmakers are marked as "recommendations," but the final decision to swipe right or left remains with the user. Profiles rejected by matchmakers remain available, ensuring the user has the final say in their dating choices.
