The Apple Research app version 5.0 now allows users to share family health data

Apple has released version 5.0 of the Apple Research app, enabling users to share personal and family health data for scientific research. The new version of the Apple Research app also allows users to invite friends to participate in specific health studies.

The app currently supports three studies: a women's health study in partnership with Harvard, a heart and movement study with the American Heart Association, and a hearing study with the University of Michigan. Users can contribute to these studies using their Apple Watch and iPhone, after meeting eligibility criteria and providing consent for data collection.

The Apple Research app, which is free on the App Store and compatible with iOS 15 or later, aims to improve understanding of less-studied health areas. This could potentially lead to the creation of new health products and, of course, an improvement in the functionality of the Apple Health app.
