Patreon unveils redesigned app, community chat, commerce feature, and new brand identity

Patreon is revamping its platform with a series of improvements including a redesigned app, new features, and a refreshed brand identity. The redesigned app features a new home feed that organizes new posts by creators, offering a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. As part of its refreshed brand identity, Patreon is also unveiling a new logo, wordmark, and changes to typography, color, and photography, reflecting its emphasis on the digital-first creative landscape.

The platform is transitioning from just paid memberships to a community-oriented space where fans can interact with creators and other fans, and proof of this is that they have fully rolled out a chat feature, similar to Discord, that provides dedicated spaces for group discussions between creators and fans. Initially available to a select group of creators, this feature is now accessible to all creators on Patreon.

Patreon has also launched a "Commerce" feature, allowing creators to sell one-off digital products and offer free subscriptions to their audience. This gives creators the ability to provide free community memberships while keeping exclusive content behind a paywall. Member profiles have been introduced to showcase bios, profile pictures, and social media links, and Patreon's updated privacy policy now allows member profiles to display information such as purchased items and subscription tiers, with an opt-out option for users.

Will they continue to ban users for "wrongthink" or having political differences? Yes They won't have any meaningful changes in terms of core reliability.
