MyFitnessPal updates its app for Wear OS, enabling direct health tracking on smartwatches
MyFitnessPal, a widely-used fitness tracking app, has launched an update for Google's Wear OS, enhancing its functionality on smartwatches. This update allows users to track health metrics like calorie consumption and exercise progress directly on their smartwatches. Previously, users of the platform were unable to input or modify data on their wearable devices, but with this new version, users can log and track data directly on compatible Wear OS smartwatches, eliminating the need for smartphones.
The update enables the logging of regular food intake and monitoring of daily nutrition, monitor sugar, fiber, fat, calorie, and hydration levels. Users can also get a quick overview of their day's health data directly from their wrist.
This feature is available for all smartwatches running Wear OS, including the new Pixel Watch 2. While these features have been available to watchOS users, this update is a significant improvement for Wear OS users, especially now that other major apps like Gmail have started providing official support.
