Klarna adds AI image-search tool, shoppable videos, and cashback program

The widely used payments app Klarna has introduced an AI-driven image-search tool called Shopping lens. This tool allows users to take photos of products or styles and identify where to purchase them. Shopping lens can identify over 10 million items and match them to 50 million store offers, and it also provides price, retailer, and review comparisons. The tool is currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.

Shoppable videos where you can buy items featured in short-form videos, have also been expanded beyond its initial launch in the United States in October 2022 to now include the United Kingdom, Germany, and Sweden. Klarna has also introduced in-store product scanning in the U.K., U.S., Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Norway, which allows users to scan barcodes in physical stores for product information, reviews, and alternatives.

Klarna has also launched a new cashback program in the U.K., where shoppers can earn up to 10% back on their purchases when they use certain payment methods. The cashback can be used as a discount on future Klarna purchases, with plans to expand the program to other markets. Other new features include a single sign-in solution for a more streamlined checkout experience, a gift card store in the Klarna app, express refunds on eligible returns, and sustainability filters to encourage conscious shopping.
