Evernote is being acquired by Gemini and Splice owner Bending Spoons
The Evernote notetaking app has announced that it is being acquired by app developer and publisher Bending Spoons.
Evernote CEO Ian Small explained that this move comes as "the next strategic step forward" towards Evernote's goals. Small also mentions that the acquisition will speed up development regardless of whether not you pay for the app.
The acquisition is expected to be complete by "early 2023," with no announced plans for changes to Evernote's pricing or release strategy. The blog post made alongside the announcement also mentioned that the development team is "commitment to keeping your data safe and secure remains as steadfast as ever" despite the change of ownership.
Evernote's in development collaborative editing support is currently in "early beta" worldwide, alongside other features like Microsoft 365 calendar compatibility, Android and iOS widgets, drag and drop tag support, and more. None of these developments are impacted by the transaction.
