Google's travel planning app Trips is shutting down on August 5th, 2019
If you use Google's Trips app for help in organizing and planning your travels, now is the time to start thinking about alternatives: The app is being discontinued on August 5th.
Google left the following relatively curt message in an article on its official support site titled "Use Google Trips app features in Google Search & Maps":
"Support for the Google Trips app will end on August 5, 2019. At this time, you'll no longer be able to use the app. Until then, you’ll still be able to access and email all of your trip reservations and notes as normal."
As a sort of alternative to the functionality of Google Travel, the search engine giant suggests people use the features laid out in that support article using a dedicated travel subsection of Google Search located at google.com/travel. In addition to this, Google Maps will allow people to use the following features from Trips:
• Find things to do and see at any destination, like iconic places, city guide lists, events, or restaurants • Browse your saved places • Access trip reservations (this feature will be available after Trips is discontinued)
If the functionality Google is offering in other products isn't enough to compensate for Trips' looming end, alternatives such as Tour and others could serve to put you on the right track.
