Google Podcasts will soon support playback and download directly from Google Search results

over 3 years ago by IanDorfman

A notable announcement from Google I/O 2019 that's listed as number 45 in Google's blog post listing 100 announcements from the event is support for playing back and saving podcasts directly from Google Search results.

As noted by 9to5Google, this will especially help out desktop and iOS users that did not have access to a Google Podcasts page to listen to content. There is no app available on the Apple App Store or compatible with Windows 10, macOS, or desktop Linux kernel operating systems. Android users will continue to use the Google Podcasts app available on the Google Play Store instead of this web interface.

According to Google Podcasts' Founder and Head of Product Zack Reneau-Wedeen on Twitter, rollout for podcast integration into Google Search is starting this week, with those who have logged into their Google Accounts having a synchronized playlist across all of their devices, regardless of what operating system they run. Reneau-Wedeen calls this "a step toward making audio a first-class citizen across Google."
