Update Twitter for Android as soon as possible to patch a serious security flaw
Anyone that uses their Android smartphone or tablet to browse and post on Twitter is strongly advised to update their Twitter app as soon as possible.
According to the Twitter privacy team, an exploit in the Twitter for Android app allowed unauthorized users to to access private unpublished and unshared information on your account. It also enabled unauthorized actions, such as sending tweets or direct messages without permission. This is done "through a complicated process involving the insertion of malicious code into restricted storage areas of the Twitter app."
As far as updating X for Android to fix the security vulnerability, it is as simple as going on to Twitter's Google Play Store app page and downloading the update. For iOS and web users, this issue is not present, so there is far less urgency to update.
