WinLaunch is a FOSS clone of XLaunchpad.
Not as automatic and intuitive as Itop. I'm only seeing an indirect mode similar to SideSlide (which I like) vs things being directly on desktop. Icons and methods seem big and clunky to me (I know icon size can be adjusted). Free version uses nag screen.
Trying to make my new Win8 look and work like Win7 wasn't working out when I found out my fav desktop organizer and launcher "Fences" hasn't been updated yet and doesn't play well on 8. XLauncher is now my new fav - works like a dream on Win8 and it's way way better!
