What is WatchTab?
WatchTab is a Safari Web Extension that automatically reloads webpages at customizable intervals from 5 seconds to 24 hours. It features content change detection that monitors pages for updates and sends instant browser notifications when changes are found. The extension highlights modified elements directly on the page and shows what changed in the notification.
Key features include:
- Adjustable reload intervals with preset and custom options
- Random interval option (±30%) to avoid bot detection
- Full Page monitoring with automatic page type detection (news, shopping, data, webapp)
- Element Picker for selecting specific page elements to monitor without CSS knowledge
- Visual highlighting of changed content
- Floating countdown overlay (customizable position and size)
- Per-URL settings that persist across sessions
- Auto-pause for inactive tabs to save battery
- Reload statistics tracking
Auto-reload is completely free. Content monitoring (change detection and notifications) is available as a premium subscription ($0.49/month or $5.99/year).
On macOS, WatchTab works in the background even when Safari is closed. On iOS/iPadOS, it operates while Safari is in the foreground and automatically resumes when you return to the app.
