What is VFX Forth?

VFX Forth is a performance-oriented commercial/proprietary implementation of Forth (specifically of the Forth 2012 standard, which is currently the most recent Forth standard) which also provides additional features above standard Forth (as do most Forth implementations). It's closest competitor is SwiftForth.

VFX Forth's REPL GUI has more features than SwiftForth currently does (as of 2023-10-16 when this description was written).

VFX Forth supports a broad range of platforms and has been used in many real world applications, including by companies like NASA, Apple, and Phillips.

VFX Forth has a free version that can be used for non-commercial purposes, but commercial licenses require a monthly subscription of ~$20.
