Value-based Routing
Value-based routing over API for Cars & Trucks uses cost factors to calculate routes and not minimizing distances; it uses a proprietary artificial intelligence model to estimate ETAs. Considering toll and multiple mandatory driving breaks. Available for Europe.

What is Value-based Routing?
Value-Based Routing: Cost-Efficient Route Planning via REST API Europe
Value-based routing is a novel approach to route planning, emphasizing cost minimization over shortest or fastest routes. This is particularly significant in the commercial sector.. Our MinCost approach customizes route planning based on diverse factors such as vehicle type, crew size, and toll considerations, ensuring optimal cost savings for different vehicle configurations and road conditions across Europe. Very fast calculation e.g. Lisbon to Moscow ca. 1200ms.
Key Features
- MinCost Routing for Commercial Vehicles:
- Cost-Efficiency Focus: Unlike consumer routing solutions that prioritize shortest or fastest routes, our value-based routing evaluates and minimizes costs for each route. This takes into account vehicle type, crew size, and other factors.
- Customizable Factors: Different cost factors are considered for various vehicle and crew combinations, including two-man crews and different vehicle weights (e.g., 3.5t or 40t vehicles), with or without toll routes.
- Comprehensive Route Considerations:
- Road Restrictions: Our routing algorithm accounts for truck-specific restrictions like bridge heights, load limits, and passage bans.
- Accurate ETA Calculations:
- AI-Based Travel Time Estimates: We have developed an advanced AI model that uses machine learning to provide highly accurate travel time predictions. This is crucial for planning routes in advance, beyond just live traffic conditions.
- Reliable Predictions: The AI model is trained on billions of data points, continually improving its accuracy for cars, vans, and trucks. This ensures better adherence to driving and rest times, ramp times, and other time-sensitive constraints.
- Cost Structure Customization:
- Variable Cost Factors: Users can input specific cost factors such as EUR per km and EUR per hour, enabling the routing engine to calculate the most cost-effective route for each vehicle.
- Heterogeneous Vehicles: The routing engine adapts to different vehicle cost structures, from cars to 7.5t and 40t trucks.
- Heterogeneous Crews: The MinCost approach accurately maps costs for different crew configurations. For example, a two-man crew has different cost implications compared to a one-man crew, even with the same vehicle.
- Toll Cost Management:
- Toll Cost Factors: Instead of merely asking whether toll roads should be used, our system factors in the specific toll cost per km for each vehicle. This ensures that toll roads are used strategically to minimize overall costs.
Coverage Our solution includes major European countries such as Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Bulgaria, and Hungary. We do not account for flat toll costs in countries like Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, and Romania, where tolls are time-based (e.g., daily or weekly).
