SuperMemo (from "Super Memory") is a learning method and software package developed by SuperMemo World in Poland from 1985 to the present. It is a practical application of the spaced repetition learning technique that has been proposed for efficient instruction by a number of psychologists as early as in the 1930s. The authors of the learning method, and lead programmers of the software, are Dr Edward Jacek Gorzelanczyk and Dr Piotr Wozniak.

SuperMemo's spaced repetition algorithm may be great, but its UI feels incredibly user-hostile. There is no undo command for any action, and everything is operated by dozens of tiny icons that you need to hover for explanation. There are various windows floating around in the main app window with no way to dock or pin them, and they move around and resize themselves by some arcane logic. The default colours are subjectively hideous and objectively the contrasts don't meet WCAG standards, but at least these can be edited.
