Finally a product vision that aims towards the ideas and imagination that I had about gaming future: a free software console (only desktop games at the moment) with a degree of support that people know from hardware consoles like development kits, integration of social network, management, marketing features and a game market. It gives me hope that they are from Germany because US organizations typically don't provide payment methods that I can use in Germany.
The main caveats as of now are its infancy and a proprietory for-profit business model. The monthly subscription prices for game studios are actually cheap compared to provision fees of big desktop stores but still quite notable fix costs for those with little or no earning and no profit model. They can only take the free subscription which limits game maintenance and provides no server options. I also tried the website and the appImage launcher on Garuda Linux with Plasma (which is a gamer and user friendly distribution) but unfortunately, I can't pay and the launcher fails with HttpError at load time. At this time of writing they still run Angular (a web GUI framework) in development mode on the client side.
Nevertheless, it has huge potential to provide game-changing features for better user rights in the market, collaborative game development, fan-service and fan content, asset reuse, and the ease of game development by providing integration of very good generic usability and accessibility features as well as advanced marketing options via an SDK that can be used by any game devs. Usability features are crucial for the quality of experience and yet need to be implemented by every game developer on its own in the hard way. Whether it flies will depend on whether they see the feature potential and needs as I do.
