What is Shenmue?

Shenmue is an open-world action-adventure video game series, created, produced and directed by Yu Suzuki.

Shenmue and Shenmue II were developed by Sega-AM2 and published by Sega. Shenmue III was developed by Suzuki's independent development studio YS Net and published by Deep Silver. Once Deep Silver's deal with YS Net expired in November 2024, ININ Games took over as the publisher.

The video game series is an epic adventure with movie-like cinematography and plot elements that include drama, mystery, romance, suspense and action. Shenmue offers a game-playing experience that includes elements of action, adventure, fighting, life simulation and role-playing games.
