What is SendRec?

SendRec is an open-source async video messaging platform designed for teams that need to keep their data on EU infrastructure. Record your screen and microphone directly in the browser, upload to your own S3-compatible storage, and share videos with time-limited links.

Built for organizations subject to GDPR, Schrems II, or sector-specific data residency requirements, SendRec ensures that video data never leaves your infrastructure. The managed instance runs on Hetzner in Germany; self-hosted deployments go wherever you choose.

Key capabilities: browser-based screen and microphone recording, shareable links with configurable expiry, anonymous view tracking (no PII stored), server-generated thumbnails, JWT authentication, and configurable usage limits.

The stack is a Go backend with a React + TypeScript frontend, compiled into a single binary. Deployment is a single docker compose up command that starts the app, PostgreSQL, and MinIO (S3-compatible storage). The entire platform runs on modest hardware.

Licensed under AGPLv3. Free tier available on the managed instance (25 videos per month, 5-minute max duration). Self-hosted deployments have no restrictions.
