What is Router?

Open route files that come in different file formats in separate windows

The Router application is able to render the information stored in GPX, TCX, KML, FIT, and Pioneer DB files. Just rely on the built-in Open menu or drag and drop the files on top of the Router Dock icon and the utility will quickly launch a new window presenting the route.

Note that Router offers you the possibility to open more than one map file at the same time, and you get to resize and rearrange the windows anyway you like.

The Router app allows you to toggle the traffic visibility and change the map mode (standard, satellite, or hybrid) but keep in mind that you need to open the map file again for the changes to be applied.

Get details about the route and explore the map with simple actions

The Router info panel provides details about the current map, such as its name, start/moving/elapsed time, average temperature, max elevation, and elevation gain. At the same time, you get to see the exact latitude and longitude values for the starting point.

Within the Router app you get to zoom in or out the representation or change the map’s orientation. For your convenience, you can also snap back to north and zoom to see the entire route from the Router View menu.

Map viewing solution that can send location information to the macOS Maps app

Router brings to table a simple solution for viewing route files without cluttering the environment with editing tools. You get explore the map in multiple view modes and get general info about the route.

What’s more, Router can display the exact geographical location for the route starting point and you can choose to show the point in the default macOS Maps application.
