What is ReviewVault?
Your private hub for reviews of files, folders and URLs. Rate, tag, and search anything, then open in one click. Local-first and offline - no account, no lock-in. Drag and drop categories, bulk actions, undo/redo, and fast find.
Why did I build this?
Because I kept losing track of “reviews of my own stuff”—movies I watched from very old days, PDFs I annotated, apps I tried, links I bookmarked. ReviewVault is a local-first way to rate, tag, and find anything—files, folders, URLs, or just some text or memo of your memory to remember—in one place without accounts, sync drama, or vendor lock-in.
What’s new and unique about this launch?
-Local-first & privacy-centric: Works entirely offline. Your data is a simple JSON you can export anytime.
-Reviews of “anything”: Attach a file/folder path or a URL to an item, add rating, tags, date, and comments—then open it with one click.
-Speedy organization at scale: Nested categories with drag-and-drop reordering, bulk Move/Copy/Delete across categories, and column show/hide + resizable widths that persist.
-Search that understands ratings: Filter by field and use queries like >=4 for ratings; click any tag chip to jump-filter instantly.
-Real desktop ergonomics: Multi-step Undo/Redo, keyboard shortcuts, and frictionless capture (drag in a file/folder to auto-fill name/link).
What am I most proud of?
-Frictionless capture ? instant retrieval: It takes seconds to turn a file or link into a rated, tagged, searchable item—and seconds to get back to it later.
-Reliability over razzle-dazzle: Every interaction (reorder categories, bulk actions) is durable and undoable, so you can organize aggressively without fear.
-No accounts, no waiting, no surprise bills: It’s a focused desktop tool that respects your time, your privacy, and your machine.
If you’ve ever wished your “personal reviews” lived right next to the actual files and links they describe, that’s exactly what ReviewVault delivers.
