What is resistro?

resistro is an open-source backup tool for PostgreSQL and MariaDB/MySQL, written in Go and distributed as a single binary (~15MB).

No Docker, no agents, no complex setup — download, configure, run.

Features:

  • Automated backups with flexible scheduling
  • AES-256 encryption at rest
  • Zstandard and Gzip compression
  • Retention policies and deduplication
  • Point-in-Time Recovery for PostgreSQL (WAL archiving)
  • Restore drills to verify backup integrity
  • Prometheus metrics for monitoring
  • Storage backends: S3-compatible (AWS, Hetzner, MinIO), SFTP, local

Available as self-hosted (free, Apache 2.0) or managed SaaS at cloud.resistro.org from 19 EUR/month, EU-hosted on Hetzner, E2E encrypted.

Built by a developer who runs it in production on 6 servers daily.
