What is Qres?
QRes is a small freeware application that provides automation for the Microsoft QuickRes screen mode change in Windows 95 and 98. QuickRes allows you to change color depth and screen resolution without restarting the machine. QuickRes is built in in Windows 98, ME and newer versions of Windows 95 and can be downloaded as an add-on for the original version of Windows 95. QRes adds a front end to QuickRes so that you can automatically switch color mode or screen resolution when you start a Windows application. For instance, when you start a game that uses 640 x 480 pixels screen area and requires 256 color mode, you can make QRes automatically switch to this screen mode as long as you run the game and switch back to your regular screen mode when the game is over.

Comments and Reviews
I love this small tool. I mainly use it when I need to use programs designed for old resolutions 600x400, 800x600 on my HD screen. Usually text is too small to be read.
This tool allows me to change desktop resolution to 800x600 (for example), run the application at that res, then go back to my 1920x1080 res as soon as I exit the program... IN ONE GO!!!
Its light, it integrates with the OS (when you click on properties for a shortcut, you have a new tab for QRes to enable its options), and makes things in one go, very very easy to use.
You could change the destop res manually but ... it will require 4 or 5 clicks (plus waiting) to change the res, another click to run the program you want to, and again 4 or 5 clicks (plus waiting) to change the res back to normal, when you can do all that in one simple click.
Great, and usefull app. AND FREE TOO!!!
It also comes with a command line executable, so it can be run from a batch file or cmd.
