pulseaudio-dlna (available in Ubuntu repositories since Ubuntu 17.10), can stream the sound from a desktop PC running Linux to a DLNA device. After installing it, you launch it in a terminal window (type pulseaudio-dlna). And voilà ! When you launch pulseaudio-dlna it does a network scan to find DLNA devices. You can choose them in the sound control panel from Ubuntu. Simple, easy to use. There is a playback delay of several seconds (let's say 10 secs). The delay comes from filling the HTTP buffer. It keeps the stream playing in case your connection has issues (weak wifi, etc.). If you want to reduce the delay, use a codec which needs much bandwidth (wav for instance) to fill that buffer faster. Forgetting about the delay, pulseaudio-dlna works like a charm and really is trivial to install!
