PiiBlocker by PiiBlock detects and masks personally identifiable information (PII) in AI chatbot interfaces before messages are submitted. It works on ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. The extension scans text in real-time as you type, highlighting detected PII. Before your message is sent, a confirmation dialog shows what was found. Critical data like credit cards, SSNs, API keys, and passwords are auto-masked. Soft PII like names, addresses, and phone numbers are flagged for you to decide. The AI receives placeholder tokens (e.g., [PERSON_A], [CREDIT_CARD_1]) instead of your real data. When the AI responds, PiiBlocker swaps the placeholders back so you see your original information seamlessly. PiiBlocker detects 15+ types of PII including credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, API keys, passwords, names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, medical conditions, salary information, bank account numbers, and UK National Insurance numbers. All processing happens locally in the browser. PiiBlock does not operate any servers and cannot access user data by design. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no cookies, and no third-party scripts. Mapping data is encrypted with AES-256 and auto-expires after 4 hours.
