Pixelformer is the best icon/logo/splashscreen image editor. It support BMP alpha channel more better than Adobe Photoshop CS6 (which still doesn't support).
Pixelformer is simply the best among image editor.

I've drawn images with Pixelformer that take up more disk space than Pixelformer itself. It's an incredibly lightweight, lightning fast, and overall gorgeous piece of software with the most complete pixel art tool suite I've ever seen outside professional editors. Despite its discontinuation and the disappearance of the dev team, it's become a vital and well-loved component of my permanent toolset.
