What is Pelican Alpha?

Pelican Alpha is an AI-powered equity research platform built by Ricardo Lee, CFA — a former analyst at ICONIQ Capital and Osmium Partners (activist hedge fund).

The platform runs three systems:

Daily Signals — Every market day, Pelican scans 7 sources: insider trades, institutional 13F filings, analyst price targets, congressional trades, press releases, quantitative screens, and special situations. Each signal is scored 1-10 for conviction. 270 hedge funds and portfolio managers subscribe to the daily briefing.

Research Reports — The research pipeline takes any ticker through a complete analysis: filings and transcripts are ingested into a vector database (RAG), peer companies are identified, and the system runs multiple valuations (DCF with sensitivity tables, liquidation value, comparable multiples, historical ranges). It scores management quality, classifies business archetypes, and generates a full thesis with bull/bear/base cases. 160+ companies covered, with subscribers able to request any company.

AI Research Agent — A conversational tool with 35+ specialized functions. It pulls real-time financial data, searches through earnings transcripts semantically, retrieves specific filing sections, and cross-references institutional holdings. Every response includes citations to source documents.
