What is Payload CMS?

Payload is a CMS designed for developers from the ground up to deliver them what they need to build great digital products. If you know JavaScript, you know Payload. It's a code-first CMS, which allows you to build whatever you want in JavaScript or TypeScript - reducing unnecessary complexity brought by GUIs.

You can bring your own Express server and do whatever you need on top of Payload. You're in complete control of the Admin panel since you can use your own React components as needed. You can use your data however, and wherever you need thanks to auto-generated, fully extensible REST, GraphQL, and Local Node APIs.
