OrbStack offers several benefits over Docker Desktop for macOS, including the ability to automatically utilize Rosetta to execute x86 code on Macs with Apple Silicon. It also provides additional convenience features, such as two-way file sharing, and allows easy access to virtual machine storage from Finder. Moreover, data from Macs can be accessed from virtual machines without any additional configuration, and OrbStack properly manages IPv6 addresses. Memory and storage are also managed on demand, without the need for prior allocation.
