What is Orbit Downloader?
Orbit Downloader is a discontinued download manager for Microsoft Windows. Launched in 2006, its developers abandoned it in 2009. In 2013, Orbit Downloader was classified as malware by antivirus software after ESET discovered a botnet in the application.
I had hidden DDoS weapon in it.
On 21 August 2013, the WeLiveSecurity blog, published by the ESET security company, reported that since version 4.1.1.15, Orbit Downloader includes a botnet-like module which performs DDoS attacks without the user's knowledge or permission. Because of this dubious behavior, it is being detected as malware. Following this report, download websites BetaNews, Download.com, DownloadCrew, MajorGeeks, Softpedia and Softonic disabled its download. Betanews attempted to contact the developers but discovered that their last blog activity had been in 2009 and the Orbit community forum has since been left to a spammer.

I'm reading it now!
Not only it contains, as explicitly stated, the adware OpenCandy, but ESET says in this article that, in versions 4.1.1.14 and 4.1.1.15 released on December 2012, the file orbitdm.exe was added to Orbit Downloader: it downloads from Orbit servers a DLL library which gets a list of websites against which launch DDoS attacks!

Orbit Downloader is Malware. It has hidden DDoS, found by Eset Anti Virus Company.
About that Software Updater, it's not that hard at all to remove it. Just delete "SoftUpdater.dll" in the folder where you install Orbit Downloader but do it while Orbit isn't running and relaunch the program. You'll see the software updater is now gone from Orbit Downloader
Not only manages downloads, but in some way makes them way quicker than normal. Highly recommended, despite the updater that you cannot get rid of.
I like that updater, but still lack of accuracy. =_="
Lets you to download flash videos and animations quickly and easily... Great program , I recommend it.
Has some quirks, but for those of us looking for a somewhat portable app, this compared to FDM leaves less traces in the registry.
