What is OnSun?
OnSun is a solar forecasting app for households with rooftop solar panels. It uses commercial-grade solar irradiance models and local weather data to forecast your solar production up to 7 days ahead, then recommends the best times to run high-draw appliances like washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, EV chargers, and pool pumps.
Most solar households export 50–70% of the energy they generate back to the grid for a fraction of what they pay to buy it back. OnSun solves this by shifting your flexible loads into the solar window — so you use your own free energy instead of exporting it cheap and buying it back at full price.
Works with any grid-connected solar PV system regardless of brand, inverter type, or panel size. No special hardware or smart home equipment required. Just enter your system details (capacity, orientation, tilt) and OnSun calculates a personalised forecast for your exact location.
Features include a 7-day solar production forecast, appliance scheduling recommendations, self-consumption tracking, and savings estimates. First 3 days of forecasts are free; full 7-day forecasts available with a paid plan.
