What is OLAT?

OLAT (Online Learning And Training) offers a flexible online course system along with extensive features to guarantee learning and teaching independent of time and place. It has been created especially for public institutions such as universities, academies or colleges, but it is also suitable for other businesses.

OLAT is a mature Learning Management System (LMS) with a nearly twenty-year track record. It has been developed since 1999 at University of Zurich (UZH). OLAT is hosted by the Department of Information Technology of UZH and is available to all faculties and institutes as well as to other Swiss universities and higher education institutions.

The development of OLAT focuses on the Tertiary Education sector. Extensions, add-ons and plug-ins are designed and implemented in close cooperation with the Swiss academic community at universities and higher education institutions.

Requirements and software engineering regarding OLAT is dedicated to all stakeholders at UZH.

The results of the in-house developed Educational Technologies (EdTech) are shared with the Open Source community all over the world.
