What is Nox - Migraine Screen Filter?
If you get migraines, your screen is working against you. Not because it's too bright, because it's emitting the exact wavelengths of light your brain is most sensitive to.
Your retina contains specialized cells that are most reactive to blue-cyan light at 480nm. In migraine sufferers, these cells are hyperactive, amplifying pain signals every time you look at a screen. Harvard research showed that nearly every color of light worsens migraines, with one exception: narrow-band green light around 530nm. That's the science Nox is built on.
Nox filters your Mac's display at the wavelength level. It doesn't just make your screen warmer like f.lux or Night Shift — it targets the specific frequencies linked to migraine photophobia using spectral curve modeling across the full visible spectrum.
It ships with 12 research-based presets: an FL-41 clinical tint (the rose-colored filter that reduced migraine frequency by 74% in trials), a Migraine Precision mode that drops 480nm transmittance to 2%, a narrow-band green mode isolating the only light shown not to worsen migraines, and more. Every preset is fully customizable — RGB channels, gamma, contrast, color temperature, and per-channel intensity. A real-time melanopic suppression metric shows exactly how much migraine-triggering light your filter is blocking.
Works on any display connected to your Mac.
