MusicGrabber information
What is MusicGrabber?
A self-hosted music acquisition service. Search YouTube, tap a result, and it downloads the best quality audio as FLAC straight into your music library.
Why?
Lidarr's great for albums, but grabbing a single track you heard on the radio shouldn't require navigating menus or pulling an artist's entire discography. This is for the "I want one song, not a commitment" use case.
Features
- Mobile-friendly UI — designed for quick searches from your phone
- Hover to preview — on desktop, hover over a result for 2 seconds to hear a preview
- YouTube search — finds tracks and playlists via yt-dlp
- Soulseek integration — optional slskd support for higher quality sources (FLAC from P2P)
- Playlist support — download entire playlists with automatic M3U generation
- Bulk import — paste or upload a text file of songs to auto-search and queue
- Best quality FLAC — extracts highest available audio quality
- Enhanced metadata — MusicBrainz lookups with fallback to cleaned YouTube data
- Synced lyrics — automatic lyrics fetching from LRClib, saved as .lrc files
- Auto-organise — creates Singles/Artist/Title.flac structure
- Duplicate detection — skips already-downloaded tracks
- Job queue — track download progress, retry failed jobs, manage history
- Optional Navidrome integration — auto-triggers library rescan
Why FLAC?
This project uses FLAC primarily for standardisation and consistent tagging across your library. Converting to FLAC does not improve audio quality beyond the source; it only preserves what is already there. If you prefer to keep the original format, disable FLAC conversion and files will be saved as-is.
